Using Levina

Using Levina

Do I need a prescription? +
Levina is FDA-Cleared for home use without a prescription.
What is TENS? +
Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) delivers electrical pulses to stimulate peripheral sensory nerves for therapeutic purposes. This stimulation blocks pain signals sent to the brain, providing temporary pain relief.
What is EMS? +
Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS), also known as Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES), sends electrical pulses to stimulate peripheral motor nerves to induce muscle contractions. This mimics the same type of signals the brain sends to contract muscles.
What does the therapy feel like? +
TENS:
Mild tingling or pulsing sensation — feels like gentle vibrations or tapping on the skin.

EMS:
Muscle twitching or rhythmic contractions — feels like your muscle is “flexing” or “pulsing” on its own.

It should NOT feel like:
  • HOT
  • STING or HURT — if it does, reduce the intensity.
Is Levina suitable for my pain? +
Whether your pain is from daily strain, aging, sports, or recovery, Levina provides safe, drug-free relief using clinically supported TENS/EMS technology. It offers effective relief for acute and chronic pain, arthritis, menstrual cramps, and more.
How long do the effects of Levina last? +
Treatment outcomes vary by individual. Most users see a continued reduction in pain within 10–20 minutes. One 60-minute session can block pain for 6–7 hours. We recommend following our 3 Rights method for optimal results. Maintenance sessions every 30–40 days are advised. Some users benefit from a few sessions per week; others from a few per month. Listen to your body and adjust based on comfort and goals.
Will I get long lasting relief effects if I use it more? +
The more consistently you use your stimulator at the right intensity, the faster you're likely to feel relief. Both TENS and EMS work best with regular use. You may use it more frequently than recommended, but like a workout, your muscles need time to rest and recover. Overuse can lead to fatigue and reduce effectiveness.
How to choose the "Best Program" for me? +
Levina offers three main modes: Pain Relief, Muscle Training, and Relaxing Massage. Use the remote control interface to choose a mode based on your needs. Refer to the user manual for guidance on which program suits your condition.
How do I ensure the "Best Electrode Placement"? +
Use small electrodes for small muscle groups and large electrodes for larger areas. Refer to the manual for guidance. For pain relief, place electrodes directly on the painful area to stimulate sensory nerves. For training or recovery, align electrodes along the muscle's direction to stimulate motor nerves effectively.
How do I choose the "Best Treatment Intensity"? +
Everyone’s sensitivity varies. Start with low intensity and increase gradually. For pain relief, aim for 60–80% of your comfort threshold (mild tingling and numbness). For muscle training, aim for 80–90% with visible muscle contraction. Always stay below your pain threshold for safety and effectiveness.

Types of Pain

Duration:
- Acute Pain: Sudden, short-term pain from an injury or strain (like a sprain or pulled muscle). Usually goes away as you heal.
- Chronic Pain: Ongoing pain lasting over 3 months, often related to conditions like arthritis or nerve damage. It can be harder to describe and slower to improve.

By Where It Hurts or What Causes It:
- Muscle Pain: From sore, tight, or inflamed muscles, often due to overuse, poor posture, fatigue, or cold weather.
- Nerve Pain: Caused by pressure or damage to nerves. This includes sciatica, herniated discs, or sharp shooting pain from nerve compression.
- Joint Pain: Linked to arthritis, joint injuries, inflammation, or swelling in knees, hips, shoulders, etc.
- Internal/Visceral Pain: Comes from internal organs, like period cramps or pelvic pain. Often feels like deep pressure or cramping.
- Post-Surgery Pain: Pain and stiffness during recovery after surgery or from lack of movement.

Types of Muscle Use or Recovery
Muscle Strengthening Goals:
- Anaerobic Training: High-intensity exercises like weightlifting, push-ups, or sprints that build strength and muscle power.
- Aerobic Training: Longer activities like brisk walking, swimming, cycling, or hiking that improve endurance and heart health.

Recovery Support:
- Active Recovery: Includes stretching, foam rolling, massage, or gentle cycling.
- Passive Recovery: Includes ice baths, compression gear, hydrotherapy, and electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) which Levina offers.
How to Use Levina Safely +
When using your Levina devices:
- Always start at a low intensity and slowly increase until you feel a gentle tingling sensation.
- Try different modes to find what feels most comfortable and effective.
- Never turn up the intensity to the point of pain — keep it below your pain threshold.
Can I use Levina on an airplane? +
Absolutely! Simply turn on the remote control and stimulator, and you can use all TENS/EMS programs during your flight. Sit back, relax, and enjoy your journey! No need to worry about airplane mode or flight safety issues!
Can I use my Levina while on the go or working out? +
We recommend using Levina in a comfortable seated or lying position. You can engage in light activities like using your phone, reading, or watching TV, which should not interfere with your treatment.

Levina offers various modes and recommended stimulation positions. As you become more accustomed to muscle stimulation, you can also try light exercises during muscle training mode, such as squats to strengthen quadriceps or hamstring muscles during intensity or endurance muscle contractions.

DO NOT use the product while driving, operating machinery, engaging in heavy workouts like running or sprinting, or any activity that could cause accidents or injuries.
What is the warranty period for Levina? +
The device comes with a 2-year warranty, while accessories are covered for 1 year. This warranty includes free repairs and parts replacement for damages not caused by human factors.
Why is the remote control screen blank or not displaying? +

Electrode Related Issues

Electrode Related Issues

What should I do if the hydrogel of the electrodes starts to peel off? +
After multiple uses, the adhesive strength between the hydrogel and the PET electrode may decrease. If you notice the hydrogel gradually peeling off from the electrode, gently remove it from the skin to prevent the hydrogel from detaching too quickly and causing it to peel off from the PET electrode. Simply reattach the hydrogel in place.
After removing the electrodes, I noticed residue at the treatment site. Is this normal? +
Yes, it's normal and won't affect your treatment experience or the electrodes' functionality. Everyone's skin type and condition are different, so some hydrogel residue may remain on your skin. You can easily clean it off with water or a damp cloth.
How long can the electrodes be used for? +
Electrodes typically last for about 20 to 50 uses on average, although actual lifespan may vary depending on factors such as skin cleanliness, usage, and storage conditions. It's recommended to thoroughly clean the skin before use. Apply the electrodes onto clean, dry skin, ensuring no sweat or lotion residue. After use, store the electrodes back in the zipper bag and keep them in a cool place away from sunlight.
What to do if the electrode pads lose their stickiness? +
Electrode pads adhere to the skin using a water-based gel. To prolong their lifespan, ensure your skin is clean. If the stickiness of the pads diminishes, gently clean the gel area with clean water or a damp cloth, then allow it to air dry for a minute to restore stickiness and maximize usability. Other factors affecting pad lifespan include skin type, natural skin oils, and pH levels. If stickiness cannot be restored, consider purchasing new electrode pads for a more comfortable therapy experience.
